In Bal Harbour, Sarvian Design Group led the renovation of The Shul, reimagining 2,500 square feet with a calm, material-driven design language suited to a space of daily gathering and reflection. Curved walls finished in a textured, Jerusalem-stone-inspired surface wrap the main hall, framed by white oak millwork and bronze detailing that carries through every custom element — from a sculptural glass light fixture suspended overhead to the intricately engraved bronze doors set within a bookmatched marble surround.
Custom stained glass panels, designed and fabricated specifically for the space, bring color and narrative into an otherwise quiet material palette of oak, stone, and brass. A curved library wall of illuminated shelving houses the community's texts and ritual objects, while navy upholstered seating, arranged in a gentle arc, keeps the room feeling intimate despite its scale. Dedication text is carved directly into the stone wall — a permanent, architectural gesture rather than an applied plaque.
As with any renovation of a space already woven into a community's life, the work required precision and restraint: honoring what The Shul already meant to those who gather there, while elevating the materials, lighting, and craftsmanship throughout. The result is a space that feels both reverent and genuinely new.
